Using update.microsoft.com, it also downloaded a new version of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool (890830).

As stated in an other thread last month, the MRT does not run automatically, it must be run manually (Start -> Run):

mrt

use

mrt /?

to see a list of possible software switches.
