I loved 2000 Pro when I had it, but that was an illegal version I don't have the disc for, and that drive got wiped when I tried to kill Fedora 1 from it to download Fedora 4, which is a very long stoy in itself.Basically, I want to buy 2000 Pro and I want a new, sealed, unused version, but that's really hard to find for cheap. I'm looking for under $100, since it's a 5 year old distro. I keep finding a lot of versions that have Windows 2000 Professional NR and Windows 2000 Professional NFR. I was thinking about an OEM, but I can't find anything that'll tell me the difference between them, or even if there is one. I've checked through Microsoft.com (labyrinth of a site), eBay, and various Google results. I've found a bunch of seemingly good deals, but the cheapest are the ones that have the NR appended to the name, although they guarantee it's sealed and legit. I don't want to get conned, nor do I want a copy that'll have no update capability. Can anybody shed some light? Why do I want 2000 so much? I'm looking to install it on my Pentium Pro box (200MHz with 64MB ram and 4GB HD) and XP won't be happy. I managed tokill the Windows 95 installation that was on it when I got it from a friend. I installed "updates" from Microsoft that not only killed off all of the networking capabilities, but eventually gave me this screen upon boot:Windows ErrorI think that means I broke it... lol.Thanks! Perhaps this is a windows 95 only file?If you are looking for Windows 2K, you should be able to find it for ~$100. I purchased an OEM version with a CD-Burner and Windows costed $100. I think it should have it... I know that it still has the file manager from Windows 3.1, along with the Task Manager and the main desktop... I forget what that was. I still wonder why Microsoft hasn't goten rid of those old pieces, especially if every release is 'completely new technology.'' Pfft.. lol.I found it from a site tha has 2000 for $65. That, and the screen says runshell, not rundll. lolI took that pic with my camera phone. I think the HD went.The more I've thought about it, NR / NFR = Not For Retail.
