Scarecrow Man Posted August 23, 2005 Report Share Posted August 23, 2005 Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONFIG\SYSTEMPlease boot from a CD and press 'r' to load recovery console...blah blah blahI've tried chkdsk /p, fixboot and fixmbr with no luck.I was thinking maybe extracting SYSTEM from the CD, but how would I go about doing that? Do dos commands work in recovery console? like ren SYSTEM SYSTEM.OLD and copy SYSTEM \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\CONFIG\? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I first booted this morning it was ticking and would not get past bios logo. Now it is booted into UBCD after saying "No Operating System Found".I have had such an array of errors with this computer. Everything from no hard disk, to an invalid password.See here for my new problem. I've given up on this drive. Scarecrow Man Posted August 26, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 26, 2005 lsass.exe - System ErrorWhen trying to update a password, this return status indicates that the value provided as the current password is not correct.This is the error I now get after running HDDRegenerator, fixing numerous sectors and after multiple runs. multiple HDscans, chkdsk, fixboot, windows repair, etc..The error stays on screen for about 5 seconds and the computer reboots.I am getting sick of this computer.I wish I knew what caused all this.EDIT: same in safe mode :( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
