Sometime ago I installed Ubuntu (Linux) next to Windows XP Home. When I put my pc on, I can choose between starting Ubuntu or Windows. I understood that there is a separate MBR (Grub). Because Ubuntu is rather complex :blush: and I can't get access to the internet via my wireless modem, I want to de-install Ubuntu and get rid of the MBR. Can someone advise me how to do. Thanks in advance.

First of all backup all of your data just to be on the safe side.

Boot into Windows XP

Click: Start
Choose: Run
Type: diskmgmt.msc
Click: OK

You should see your partitions?

Find the Ubuntu partitions [there should be three I think] and delete them.

Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD drive.

Now RESTART your computer.

Allow the computer to boot from the XP CD [you need to set your computer to do this]

Run the following: fixmbr

I want to de-install Ubuntu

As above deleting the partitions will do this.

and get rid of the MBR.

Running fixmbr will do this.

NOTE: You can also run fixboot if you want.
