max no. of usb web cam in XP

Hello,

Does anyone know how many usb web cam does windows XP support without loosing reliability? i am using logitech usb web cam on XP. my proj requires attaching 3 web cams on a single machine. my piece of code works fine when i have two webcams attached but it doesnt work when i attach third one.

will using usb repeater solve this problem or its the limtation of device driver in XP?

USB uses a tiered star topology, meaning that USB devices called hubs can serve as connection ports for other USB devices. Only one device needs to be actually plugged into your PC. USB supports hubs that can be either standalone or embedded within some other device such as a keyboard or disk drive. A single USB port can support up to 127 devices.

I cannot find info about what Windows can handle.
