Help!!!!!

One of my darling children has changed the windows startup password to something he can't remember!!!!!!!

Is there any way round this without doing a full format & reinstall?

can I set up XP so it doens't ask for a password to be renewed after a set time (3 months is it?) so hat the machine just works?

Thanks alot!!!

WELCOME to NP. If you reinstall XP, I believe that you can set up two accounts, one for you and one for the kid. Keep everything that matters in your account, and provide only limited access to the kid. Maybe I'm wrong, I will stand correcting on this.

If you have a separate Administrator user (and you know the password), then you can reset the user's password that got lost.

And yes, you can set a user password up any way you want, e.g. to force a new one in regular intervals, or to keep the same password permanently.

I fully agree with Andsome's comments: set up a separate account for you (with Administrator privileges) and other users.
