martinedwards Posted September 15, 2005 Report Share Posted September 15, 2005 Help!!!!!One of my darling children has changed the windows startup password to something he can't remember!!!!!!! :angry: Is there any way round this without doing a full format & reinstall?can I set up XP so it doens't ask for a password to be renewed after a set time (3 months is it?) so hat the machine just works?Thanks alot!!! Keep everything that matters in your account, and provide only limited access to the kid. Maybe I'm wrong, I will stand correcting on this. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted September 16, 2005 Report Share Posted September 16, 2005 If you have a separate Administrator user (and you know the password), then you can reset the user's password that got lost.And yes, you can set a user password up any way you want, e.g. to force a new one in regular intervals, or to keep the same password permanently.I fully agree with Andsome's comments: set up a separate account for you (with Administrator privileges) and other users.
