Security researchers have discovered an unpatched vulnerability in Firefox. http://secunia.com/advisories/16764

Secunia describes the vulnerability as "highly critical". It advises users not to browse untrusted websites as a precaution.

There are currently no known active exploits of this vulnerability although a "proof of concept" has been reported. To protect yourself against this exploit, follow these instructions.

* To install the security patch for Firefox or the Mozilla Suite, follow these instructions:

1. Firefox and Mozilla Suite users click this link: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...ches/307259.xpi

2. In the Software Installation window, click the "Install Now" button.

3. Exit and restart your Mozilla or Firefox browser.

* To verify the fix in Firefox and the Mozilla Suite, be sure to restart the browser and then follow these steps:

1. In Firefox Click Help -> About Mozilla Firefox and verify that the user agent string contains "(noIDN)"

2. In the Mozilla Suite Click Help -> About Mozilla and verify that the user agent string contains "(noIDN)"

Firefox 1.0.7 is now fully released and available for download from http://www.mozilla.org/

Added: it appears as if so far only the en-US language version has been released.

I understand that this idiotic concept of different language versions will be eliminated in 1.5; all languages will be in one module, and the language is selected during installation (same as Ccleaner or Spybot S&D).

Thunderbird 1.0.7 is now also available for download from http://www.mozilla.org/. Thunderbird 1.0.7 is a security and stability update (language versions other than English are not yet available).
