Automatic Lock on Windows XP

Hello!

I reinstalled OS on my PC and I can't get it to lock itself automatically after 10 minutes (it used to do that by itself). How can I enable that feature? I looking in "Computer Management" and "Local Security Policy" but couldn't find any option for that.

Any ideas?

Control Panel > Display Properties > Screen Saver.

You can set it to ask for a password when the computer is resumed from screen saver, or set power management features so it asks for a password when returning from standby. This can be accessed via screen savers > Power > Advanced.

I wasn't talking about screen saver password. I don't use that at all. I was talking about locking it. The same way you can lock it by pressing Windows Key-L or ctrl-alt-del and then click on "Lock Computer".

If you are using windows 98, yes it just uses a "screen saver password". XP/2K will revert back to a login screen in the case of XP, or a "this computer has been locked by..." in 2K.

You can also set the option to press ctrl+alt+del before loggin in for added security.

In 2000, start > run > control userpassword > advanced and click the users must press ctrl.... to login check box.

In XP, start > run > control userpassword2 > advanced and click the users must press ctrl.... to login check box.

If you are on a domain these settings may be different, or Administered from the domain group policy.
