AVG+firewall trial version - disabled while you buy it!?

For days my AVG trial version anti-virus-plus-firewall has been reminding me to buy it. The reminder happens while AVG is loading at start-up. Today I clicked on the "buy now" button, connected to their website and went through all the ropes, credit card number, download. Then, returning to my desktop, I saw the AVG trial version start-up process was still exactly where it was when I clicked the "buy now" button, and only after clicking "continue" did it announce (i.e. after I've been on the web for 40 minutes) "AVG trial version firewall is active!" Shurely not...?

Perhaps you have to reboot.

re-boot? The point is (was), avg+firewall trial version reminds you every day to buy it. The reminder pop-up gives you two options: "continue" (i.e. postpone buying and continue to load the avg trial version) or "buy!". If you decide to "buy!", it takes you off to its site to buy the thing and, in the meantime, doesn't "continue", i.e. to load your firewall. So you do all your business online in your browser while, on your desktop, the firewall hasn't loaded. How clever is that? Anyway, it's now downloaded and installed (although the set-up exe I paid for and downloaded did advise me it was out of date, might not be fully functional and I should check the grisoft website for a newer version -- !! ).
