Although I feel all the things outlined in this thread, I wasn't going to refuse to take my family to Buckingham Palace on investiture day. I mingled happily with sporting and entertainment celebrities, queued to shake hands with Her Maj. had photos taken, went for a celebratory lunch, wore a top hat for the first (and probably last) time and reeled off home very merrily.
