Alan2273
A friend has just given me his computer, he told me it stopped working just before christmas.I have tested the PSU and that is OK, the processor fan is spinning but I get no post beeps, the CDrom will not open as I thought to try Knoppix in it before I took out the hard drive to test it.Can anyone give me an idea what to do next. All i can tell you about it is the motherboard which is an ASRock, unless I take the heatsink of i do not know what the processor is.What would be the next logical step?. -pops-
If you're sure that the case speaker is connected and working, no POST = no good. The M/B is kaput.
Alan2273
Pops does that mean that the processor might have gone as well.If it is the mobo then I have nothing to loose by removing the processor, although untill I get a new mobo there is no way I can test it.The speaker is connected correctly to the mobo. Thanks for your quick reply pops. woodchip
How did you test the PSU????? you can only test the PSU by having it connected to the Motherboard and Back Probing the Main PSU socket with a MultiTester ,.For Correct Volts. Other than the above you would need dedicated tester to test it. If you have a known working PSU,Try it
Alan2273
My brother is an electrician and he tested it for me and said it was OK.So it looks like pops was right.
