jnsryder Posted January 20, 2006 Report Share Posted January 20, 2006 When ever I click a link on the internet to watch a video i get an error, tells me to check my proxy settings or LAN. I am not connected to a LAN and my proxy settings are correct. I didnt used to have this problem, now all of a sudden this is happening. Now I have restored my computer a couple of times trying to fix another problem recently, maybe that had something to do with it. Anyways, I guess I am just looking for suggestions on how to correct this problem. So, got any input???? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Scarecrow Man Posted January 21, 2006 Report Share Posted January 21, 2006 If you are on high-speed or broad band, turn off 'Automatically Detect Settings' under Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings.There are also proxy settings in Windows Media Player, under Tools > Options > Network. Make sure all are set to 'Browser' or if you do not use a proxy, 'Do Not Use a Proxy'Might also be a good idea to make sure WMP is the default player. dadyassa Posted January 21, 2006 Report Share Posted January 21, 2006 I assume you only have WMP as media player, just to check if that or your settings are a problem, why not download jetaudio media player, it is free.Or do you have another ie Nero or similar already installed that you could try? Scarecrow Man Posted January 22, 2006 Report Share Posted January 22, 2006 In internet explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Scroll down to the Multimedia section. Make sure, 'play videos in web pages' is ticked.Other than that, your WMP 10 installation may be corrupt.. Uninstall and re-install from a fresh download. You can download here.
