USB problems

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with the USB ports on a computer.

Here is the scenario:

The computer had windows 98 installed. I installed the cruzer mini driver, so I was able to use my flash drive. After an upgrade to Windows XP, the Flash drive, the new iPod, my 200GB external HD (with power adapter), a USB Camera.. would not work.

I believe the problem lies either in the fact that they are all USB 1.1 ports, or the ports have been damaged, or there is a corrupt USB driver on the system.

All of the devices function perfectly on my laptop with USB 2.0.

I am going out to purchase a USB 2.0 PCI card later on this week, but was wondering if there was something I could do to correct the corrupted drivers.

I am puzzled because everything (but the iPod obviously) worked before upgrading to XP.

Hi, this is my first post

In the past i also had this problem, the thing i noticed after upgrading my operating system was that my USB ports had been disabled. When your computer starts press F8 to run the set up menu. Here you will get an option to go into your system BIOS. Find the USB ports and check if they have been disabled, and if so, enable them

Hope this helps ;)
