Memory Lost after HD format and Windows reinstalling

Recommended Posts

You can check in your bios, how much RAM is allocated to the onboard video. If you do have onboard video, the standard is 8, 16 and 32 MB of RAM. Onboard video will share memory with system memory, thus the amount shown in windows could be less.

Also notice that 1MB = 1024 KB and 1KB = 1024 Bytes, which could also cause a discrepency.

Does it have an on-board graphic card that is using 8mb of your ram?

I have a Standard VGA Graphic Adapter. Is this one you are talking about?
