I have an AC'97 sound card and i fiddled with the sound effects in soundman and reset them back but it keeps echoing and half my songs make the background music go over the song so its hard to hear words cuz of music infront of words, i uninstalled and re installed my card and it still does the same thing...any suggestions to set it back to normal?

Hello Jookia and welcome to the forum.

It sounds like you have a sound effect enabled in the RealTek sound manager(the Soundman.exe). As RealTek update and change the sound manager on a regular basis, it's hard for me to say exactly where you should look in your version.

If I open my RealTek sound manager it looks like this;

soundman4od.jpg

If you look at the Environment settings, I have "none" selected in the drop down menu as I don't want sound effects. Have a look in your sound manager and you will probably have a sound effect enabled and this is causing the sound distortion/echo effect. Just change it to none.

HTH, dagwoood.
