You just have to make a local folder, My Documents in my case, point to a network location.If you enable offline files, the folder will be synchronized with the network location at log on, and log off. If you offline files, the folder will be automatically updated on the fly. The only downside to this is, if the network location goes down, the folder is unavailable.Are you on a domain? Brian Posted February 9, 2006 Author Report Share Posted February 9, 2006 Yes, I am on a Domain. But, that remote share is 300 Gigs. Wouldn't that be too large for file synchronization?What I am trying to do is run a virus scan on that remote share. It's a Net Appliance and does not have the capability to do it on it's own. I can map a drive from a PC and run the scan under a normal window session. That means I would have to VPN in late at night a fire off the scan. I believed you had a server, and a client, and the client needed a share on the server.To do what you are asking about, Just map the drive in windows. Any virus scanner should be able to scan it. Which means I would have to VPN in at night and start the scan. Don't like that idea.When I go into scheduler for SAV all I see are local drives not any mapped ones.Now, you can sometimes use an ISCSI connection and that remove resource will look like it is local. Unfortuanately, in this case I can't use ISCSI.I was just thinking there might be another way to fool the OS into thinking that a remote share was local. It would run on the server, and scan the clients remotely. A scan could be, and was scheduled.Can you not install a client on the device? I think it runs a propriatary version of BSD Unix that is locked down pretty tight. Good, fast and big machines.
