dav Posted February 11, 2006 Report Share Posted February 11, 2006 HI, I have a mult-os pc with a few version of linux and xp & win2k3. Now I just realize I can't restart my win2k3 (SBS) and I get the following message:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------windows couldnt start because the following file is missing or corrupted:<window root>\root\systems32\ntorknrl.exe Please reinstall a copy of the above-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The funning thing is the winxp on that machine work just fine. Now I wonder its win2k3 try to do sth on the boot loader? Now my question is anything i can do to restore those file without reinstall windows? I tried the safe mode (don't think it make any diff anywhere) but same message pop up. My guess is it can't find the proper superblock or MBR to locate the executable. If that is right is there any boot loader program i can use to fix win2k3 without damage the rest of my data in my current boot loader(don't want to reinstall all non-windowz os's again...)? ps: if this isn't the right forum to ask can someone kindly point me to where i can find answer?thx in advance Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is it because my boot.ini not reside the same partition as win2k3 but winxp partition? But when i run the commands , it does point me to winxp partition anyway. I now trying to reinstall win2k3...
