Microsoft .NET Framework - question

I've asked this one before :)

........ but its six months on and I've still not yet installed this offering from Mr Gates, so versions 1.1 and 2.0 of it remain as options for me at Windows Update.

There's a couple of things I now want to try out, which do need this to be installed, but before I do install it ........... are there any significant problems with it affecting software already installed ?

Oh .......... and when I do .......... can I just install version 2.0 and leave out 1.1 completely ???

The .NET Framework is only for programs which are coded with .NET (C++.NET, VB.NET, Java.NET)

You should not ever need the .NET Framework unless specifically asked to by a program, or you are a Developer.

I've got both versions installed....I don't know if I need them or not, but if I install anything that does need it...well, it's installed. I've no problems to report.

The only application I knew that was going to require .NET was RegScrubXP 4.0 before it was abandoned. I have .NET 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 installed, but I do not really need it.

1.1 does not obsolete 1.0, and 2.0 does not obsolete 1.0 & 1.1. If an application requires .NET, it may require all 3 versions, or just one specific version.
