Bios Freezes

Hi guys, i just installed a new hard drive in my laptop. I put in an 80 gb 5400rpm Samsung hard drive, in a dell latitude CPX, with 384mb ram, and when i go into the bios, it freezes at the first page, and no hard drive information is listed. It won't let me change any functions, or change pages. I even downloaded the Samsung Bios program that Samsung Tech Support told me to install, and it said that a samsung hard drive must be installed, which i thought maybe it wasn't recongizing it, but if i go into "my computer" It says Samsung 80gb hard drive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have anything positive to say to help but, I do know that Dell use both hardware and software modified for their own purposes in their computers.

It could be that your Dell motherboard (whatever its real origin) is modified to Dell specifications and will thus not accept any other hard drive than one approved by them.

No dell doesn't have any updates. I am familar with the fact that alot of Dell systems are configured to only accept Dell hardware, i know there's a way to bypass this, but i haven't figured it out yet. I'll keep looking around. Thanks Anyway.
