No sound

Hi,

Have an older pc my son gave to me that has windows 98se on, and sound was working ok.

Because there was that much junk on there i decided i would reinstall windows, I have the origanal discs that

came with the pc and drivers also.

Reformatted and did the install ok, loaded the drivers from origanal disc ok but have no sound have been into

control panel and checked sound is not muted or low volume and all is ok.

also checked that all the drivers had installed ok and no conflicts and all are working ok.

any ideas would be appreciated

Hi pops,

sorry yes this is integrated sound no sound card, only cards on mobo is the internal modem and a graphics

card or some sort of ram chip altera is printed on this card this information relates to this card........

This card has a power connecter, a 40pin IDE connection that goes to the second IDE controller, and it has a

smaller ribbon cable which is about 15mm /1/2 inch wide.

speaker connections in correct sockets ,have not tried different speakers as yet but the sound was working p

pre re-install.
