Tony Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 Hi AllOk i am not that good at networks.All i have had to do in the past is plug a PC into my router and then search for it, from with in XP's search.Then i can always send and receive stuff from or to the second PC.All that has changed with my setup is that now the computers plug into a network switch and this switch is pluged into a router/DSL modem.No matter what i try i can not find the second computer i have connected to the network, i have made sure that the drive i want to copy data from has been shared, but i can not find the thing. also from the second PC i can not find my computer and i know that, that is shared cos if i connect my wifes pc to the network they can talk to each other with no problem.I really need to get the data from the second pc so as to back it up, and i don't think that the hard drive on it is going to last much longer.Please tell me what i need to do.Thanks for your timeTony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tony Posted March 7, 2006 Author Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 Don't worry, i have sorted it now.The first i don't realy understan though.I had to change the workgroup on the second PC from WORKGROUP to MSHOME, strange being that this computer has already been connected to my network in the past.Second thing Zone Alarm was bloking it, but not telling me that something was trying to get access.Oh This is the problem when you only dabble evry now and then, you forget the simple things. :)Tony Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
