Try this.

Start, right click 'My Computer' > Manage> select Disk management (left hand window)

Delete Linux patition & reformat to NTFS

Insert windows xp disk into drive and restart making sure that you can boot to Cdrom.

Press R for repair on the Welcome to setup Window

Select the Windows partition and enter Administrator password/or simply press enter

Type fixmbr and press enter

Confirm that you want to write a new MBR

Restart computer having removed the disk.

This of course leaves you with your windows installaton partition and then a 2nd partition to use as you will. I am not aware that you can get them back to one large partition unless you have used partition software in the the first place
