I'm quite familiar with the right-click, new, select file to be created method of creating files. However, I'd like to know if there's a way to add to this list. For example, I want to be able to create VBScripts by going to the "new" menu, as well as JavaScripts, XML, HTML, that kind of thing. I have all the necessary programs to edit and run these things, but they don't appear in the menu. What can I do to put them there? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The menu that lets you create a new text file, a new word document, that kind of thing. I want to be able to add to the file types listed on that menu. If you are unfamiliar with the Windows Registry, you should make sure you do a complete backup first.Here is some information about customizing the Right Click menu. newton_21989 Posted March 16, 2006 Report Share Posted March 16, 2006 An alternative workaround would be disableing "Hide known file extensions" under the "View" tab of the Folder Options. Then, right click and create a "New Text Document" and rename the file including the ".vb" extension. Windows will ask if your sure you want to change the extension. Click "OK." But that menu only comes up when you right-click on an icon. I'm talking about the right-click on the desktop, no icons, where it gives the option of creating a new file.
