Why does copying the install cd onto local drive takes 1,5GB?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm trying to do a slipstream on a win2k3 for raid drivers, and, following this procedure, http://www.maximumpc.com/2005/01/how_to_slipstre.html , when I copy all the files from the cd onto the local harddrive, the whole directory obtained occupies 1.5 Gigs. I heared that (my CD having three different install modes - Enterprise, Standars and Network) most of the data on the cd is common, only the differences being stored separately, most of the files being used in common (with links). But when one copies all the files from the cd, it copies the linked files three times, once for every shortcut.

Anyone knows how not to copy the files several times or if, after the slipstream, when burning the new install cd, the whole thing would fit a single cd again?

Thanks,

Alin.
