router

Recommended Posts

I have just lost my internet connection, i tried ipconfig /renew but no go.

It is a D-Link wired router, is there any way I can test it.

I disconnected the router and plugged the lan cable straight into my computer and everything is back to normal.

I need the router as my brother runs Linux on his computer and we share the blueyonder broadband.

So is there a way to test the router, or is it a case of just buying a new one?.

Just wondering if when you have the router connected - can you map to its ip address ( start - run - \\"ip addres of router" and check whether the router says it has in internet connection?

On my Belkin wireless G router, if i map to it, one of the options is to reset it - could give that a go.

Chris you are a life saver, the actual address is 192.168.0.1.

Because I had changed the motherboard and processor and done a fresh install of windows I never thought to check the MAC address.

So I got the manual out and found the address and used the set up wizard and found I had to clone the MAC address and bingo it is working perfectly again.

Strange though how I just plugged it in after the rebuild and it worked for 8 days.

Once again thanks.
