Reimage a drive

Recommended Posts

I have a problem getting a computer after a reformat work with quickbooks on our 2003 network. We have tried 3 clean installs of windows and no luck. Can I take an image of another drive on the network, change the computer name and join it to the domain with then new name or will active directory have a fit?

What software do you recomend accomplishing this and why?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Im not too sure if taking an image of a PC takes the PC name with it - if it does i would have thought that AD would have a fit as it would have 2 objects on the domain with the same name. What u could do is take a PC off the AD domain and have it as a standalone or workgroup PC - imgae that and then transfer that image to the new PC. This way the newly imaged PC wont go straight onto the AD domain and confuse the hell out of it. Norton Ghost is what we use at my works to image PC's.
