Windows Shared logging???

I have read somewhere that, on a LAN, such as a home network set up, Windows automatically keeps logs of every PC on that network, such as web sites visited on the internet, etc. Meaning, that somehow utilizing the shared files folder, a PC sends logs of it's internet history to the other PCs and vice versa. Is this true? I have never seen anything like this, but maybe it resides in a hidden share. I would also think this is a little insecure and would require some kind of application to be running in order to do so. I have monitored SMB activity and never picked up anything like this.

Anyone know if this is true or not.

Thanks in advance
