Slow system

Hi

I have a system that is running slow. I've run Spybot and Adaware, have Microsoft Antispyware running and Mcafee Virus Scan Enterprise v8. All show no viruses or sypyware.

The problem is that when I run a program it takes several seconds to start or for instance when I access the start menu the task bar does not hide itself despite being ticked to autohide. I did have a trojan virus which no longer shows up. Hjackthis doesn't show anything out of the ordinary.

Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

Thanks

Graeme

SAVAK;

With this name, beeing infected by SPYware & Trojans is almost impossible, but waht is possible now, as it was then, having wrong leads as non complete shortcuts, wrong or irrelevant registries, wrong dynamic libs, etc. Best to use to my experience is PC TOOLS Registry mechanic, it may cure the slowness.

I hope they had done this than too, so we would not be talking about this now. Happy new year!!!

I would first do as Scarecrow Man suggested - read this topic on how to run HijackThis, then post the report in this forum. The first thing really is to eliminate the possibility of any malware infection.

Only then it is useful to give you additional tips on how to speed up a slow system.
