I got WinXP pro and the drive is a Sony DVD-RW DRU-820A drive. I don't know why it is not working. In the BIOS it sees the drive and says nothing is wrong with it. Windows device manager sees it also but says that quote above. It also says something about a problem during installation and it might not work properly. I have disabled/uninstalled like 3 times and it still dosen't work. Maybe it has something to do back when i changed the RAM timings and my computer wouldent boot and would not see my HDD. SO i cleared my cmos and it worked fine. Because that is around the time when the drive stoped working i think.Thanks for any help. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Is it a Microsoft driver (what version/date), or is it a Sony driver (version/date)? Scarecrow Man Posted March 27, 2006 Report Share Posted March 27, 2006 CD-Rom's do not use drivers, they use Firmware. Windows still needs a driver to interface itself with the hardware. This is usually done with the Microsoft ASPI driver.Does the Drive not appear in My Computer?If not, you can try this free app for correcting the upper and lower filter problem. Thought I am not sure if it fixes corrupt drivers. This is a WindowsXP file only, and you will need to reinstall CD-Buring software after using it.
