homecomputeraid Posted April 14, 2006 Report Share Posted April 14, 2006 It's pretty easy to disable DHCP on XP Pro, but I'm not sure it will provide you with the result you're looking for. Right click on My Network Places, then select Properties. Right click the Local Area Connection icon then go to Properties. In the Local Area Connection Properties window, click to highlite Internet Protocol TCP/IP, then click the Properties button at the bottom. Move the radio button from Obtain an IP address automatically to Use the following IP address, and enter an IP Address and mask in the correct subnet. You'll also probably have to manually configure your DNS Servers.Again, I'm not sure what you're hoping to gain by configuring a static IP address. You know when ICS is enabled on a computer the computer also becomes a DHCP server , DNS server and of course a NAT router..
