Click it and drag it back down to the bottom :) If you cannot, right-click it and assure that "Lock the taskbar" is not checked/ticked. You'll need to click in an area that does not have an application button on it (an empty area).

This used to happen to me on a regular basis in Windows 98, but has never happened in XP.

Welcome to WF both. Now that you have found us stick around and join in. We enjoy a good debate from time to time in the debates section.
