I have given my laptop to someone I work with on a two week trial before they hopefully buy it from me.They are complaining that when they access sites such as their hotmail account or any site where they have to enter personal information then IE just closes the window.They haev adjusted the cookie settings to different levels without success.I am concerned that when I cleaned up the laptop to sell it I may have accidentl;y deleted soemthing I shouldn't have which may be causing this problem. I cannot find a windows install CD but I have a CD called Compaq Operating System CD Microsoft Windows XP (the laptop is a Compaq) I was wondering if this would be the same thing? -pops- Posted April 15, 2006 Report Share Posted April 15, 2006 As you are selling the machine, it would be best for you to reinstall Windows.This would ensure that all of your personal stuff is removed and give your buyer a fresh start. I'm not sure of the detail with Compaq machines but I think that the CD that you have will permit a fresh install of the Compaq version of Windows XP. You may have missed some, or hidden files may still be there.It is best to format and reinstall, and your compaq disc should work perfectly for that.
