I would like to play some old games on it with low minimum requirements as pentium I or II, but the games always use the 100% of the processor and the laptop gets hot.How can I limit the processor use for these games so I keep my computer cool and its fan quiet?Thank you. Are you sure you are not using a Pentium Moble or Centrino?I can change my power settings via a program from IBM. Does your manufacturer offer anything? asker Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Share Posted May 1, 2006 My laptop has a Pentium 4, it isn't mobile nor centrino, I bought it in January of 2003, I don't know if those types of processors existed then.It has a fan that takes the air from below and expels it from the back to cool the processor (it think it only cools the processor and maybe the graphics chip). I often use my laptop having it over 4 boxes (one at each corner) that are 2cm high, so the fan isn't blocked. Nevertheless when gaming the fan spins very fast and I'm afraid that can shorten the life of my PC, also I would like to play old games, which don't require so much power nor should require so much heating.My manufacturer is AIRIS, I don't think it offers anything (haven't found anything), I have looked at the BIOS and I've the power management enabled but I think that is for turning off the hard drives and the screen after a time of inactivity, also reducing the screen brightness when using batteries.
