I went to his place installed Spybot Search & Distroy, but when I started scanning his system, it crashed with a BSOD after one or two minutes.Tried ewido, with the same result. Anything that runs intensely for more than a few minutes crashes the system.I was eventually able to clear the infections manually, but the crashing continues. I suspect the CPU may be overheating.Anyone knows how to easily monitor a processor's temperature? I had him install SpeedFan, but he says that he's lost and "cannot see anything". I will check it out at home tomorrow, as I am not allowed to install it here at the office under the Home Edition license. It sits in your notification area and you can configure it to monitor CPU/Motherboard/Hard Drive temps and it can monitor voltages and fans speeds. You can also set it to generate graphs in real time. It's just dependent on whether your mother board has the appropriate sensors.Here's a screenie with the charts view open.HTH, dagwoood. The only puzzle that I have is that is shows the speed of my system fan as 2813 RPM, but shows CPU fan as 0 RPM. Scarecrow Man Posted May 2, 2006 Report Share Posted May 2, 2006 Perhaps your CPU fan is plugged into a Case fan power supply.
