I have been using it for a year without problem and the problem only occurs on my computer, not on any other computers on the network.From time to time, if i leave my computer idle, but still connected to the wireless network, the connectivity gets messed up. The connected icon remains in the system tray, but when i double click it it says :Status: ConnectedNetwork: None No webpages open, MSN messenger will not connect, reporting a DNS error.When i try to repair the connection, the status box freezes at "Disabling Wireless Network Adaptor".This means i have to restart the computer, once it resarts it works again fine. I reckon there is a program running in the background of my computer messing up the DNS, not sure for definate. I have checked with Virus Scanners and Spyware Doctor, with no luckAny ideas? Kris Perry Posted May 18, 2006 Author Report Share Posted May 18, 2006 I dont know if this is of any significance, but when i check the log of the router, my computer appears to have two MAC addresses, one in the usual format, and one beginning 52 which is unusual. Have you changed the passwords from default?Do you have any neighbours who live close enough that they could be piggybacking on your router?You might consider following the instructions, then posting in the HijackThis and Spyware Removal Support forum too.I'm unclear at this point on whether you have a spyware problem, or if it's strictly a networking issue, but getting rid of spyware won't hurt. Its only my computer that has this problem, all the others are fine, so it is definately my computer, and not the router. I tried removing ipv6 to see if that made any improvement, but no change. Turns out the strange MAC address wasnt the problem, as im still losing connectivity at certain times of the day, usually when I'm using Bit Torrent, could this be causing problems? cozofdeath Posted June 9, 2006 Report Share Posted June 9, 2006 Well I have to say I for some reason I loose connectivity after so long just because of my ISP. But I know some torrent programs have caused me connection probs, so it could be from your torrent app. Since you disabled your DHCP are you getting an APIPA address(169.254.0.1-169.254.255.254)? I would look through logs to find out if there is an app causing the problem. You router should have logs but you may have to check the event viewer also. Windows does have connection limits, so there is a possibility your torrent program is breaking a limit. Does your torrent program suck cpu/memory resources when its running?
