ECS K7S5A Motherboard & 120Gb HDD

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Does any body know if the ECS K7S5A ver 3 mobo can have a 120 gb Hdd (Seagate Barracuda 7200.7) ?

I have looked on there site, at the specs of the mobo and max hdd size is not mentioned. I have also looked at the BIOS updates and none of them mention anything about increasing max hdd size.

I have just got 2 hdd to try, before i buy (from work)

the other is a Maxtor 80Gb, which is reconised no prob, but the barracuda is not reconised, i would prefer to have the bigger drive as there is only € 8 difference in price.

Can anybody help.

Cheers

Tony

Hi all

After installing XP onto the 80 GB hdd

I downloaded the utillitie software from seagate, then put the seagate drive in the pc as master again and it reconised it before i got the chance to use the floppy.

So i have now partitioned the seagate drive and am installing XP on to it.

I am now wondering if the root of my HDD problems over the last week or so are not HDD related at all but rather the mobo, maybe IDE controllers are going up the wall.

I have been getting a lot of Master boot record errors, and i have found doing a complete scan & fix of any errors with the software that came with my old hdd sorted the problem out, for a day or so, then i would get the prob again, then rescan it again and all is well, but today after the scan it was giving an IO error on the HDD, hence why i have got a new one.?

What do you think?

Any Ideas?

Cheers

Tony
