catgate
Here is a strange question. I have a Q-Tec optical mouse and its internal light is left on, on 'dim', when I shut down the computer. I do not know if it has always done this or not. I have had it for a couple of years but until last night I was not aware of this behaviour. Logically I would have expected it to go off when the computer was closed down, because it must be powered by low voltage and presumably that must be coming from the power pack after the computer is booted up. However the cooling fan for the power pack is shut off when the computer is closed down and so, I presume. is the power pack. Though I could be wrong, again.Last night, after the machine had been shut down and the lights in the room had been extinguished, I returned to the room to retrieve something and noticed the lamp in the mouse was alternating between dim and bright. What does the committee think, please? -pops-
This is quite common and can be classed as normal behaviour if you don't "pull the plug" when you shut down for the night.Keeping the power on but the machine off is only nominal and it maintains a "trickle" power to allow things like "wake-up-on-ring" devices to operate when powered down.Don't worry about it - it's just showing you it's still alive. The wireless mouse on one of my machines behaves in the same way and maintains a dim light even when the computer it belongs to is powered off at the wall. And we still can not get the trains to run on time!
