nanna
About 2 weeks ago, I installed the Battlefield 1942 mod "Forgotten Hope" on my computer. I had put it on my desktop about 3 months ago an I love the game (never had a problem on my desktop), but I am now having troubles with it on my laptop. The program installs just fine, and will start without any problems. However, if i try to load any map, the program just shuts down. Well, actually, it begins loading the map, then shuts down without any warning.I am running Windows xp pro service pack 2, an acer computer with an ATI graphics card. I am also running semantic antivirus corporate edition (provided by my university). I don't know if that information will help, but if anyone gets a chance, I would love some input as to what might be happening. Thanks in advance-nanna
-pops-
Shutdowns without warning are often caused by overheating - this is likely in this hot weather.Do you have a temperature monitor on the computer which you could use to check the conditions of your CPU whilst the program is loading? Most modern computers have this monitoring facility.
nanna
Somehow it doesn't seem like an overheating problem. The computer doen't feel very warm, it hasn't really started to do anything intensive yet in the game, and it is in a cool, dry area. I had heard something about a similar problem with this game from a mac user a month or so ago, but didn't think anything of it at the time, because the game worked perfectly on my desktop. -pops-
If it's possibly something with the game itself then I'm definitely not the one to answer. Computer games are a total unknown to me.There are plenty of gamers that come here, though so hold on :)
djohn
I don't know much about games either nanna, but I found this interesting reply in another forum. it appears to be the same as yours but the other way round. Answer also seems to point to video drivers causing a conflict. Here is a copy/paste of the question.I also have one more Qustion.
