chevysrock39 Posted June 26, 2006 Report Share Posted June 26, 2006 I dug my HP Laserjet 4 Plus out of the closet the other day, and hooked it up to see if it would work. After dusting it off, I hit the magic button, and it turned on. It warmed up and went to the "Ready" screen. Then, I noticed a burning smell coming from the fan on top. They are the only things I can think of that would heat up unless it would be some sort of motor. I would check the manual for information and print test pages. Sorry I couldn't help more. Ok, Thats a new one on me.Does it actually get hot when it's on..??Well all i could suggest is to make sure it's extra good and clean.. Inside and out.. chevysrock39 Posted June 26, 2006 Author Report Share Posted June 26, 2006 Yes the fan was running. I just tried the built-in test page that you don't need a cable for, and it works fine. I ran it through a couple times, but the smell still remained. It was even worse when printing because the fan kicked into high gear.
