tuxxman
I recently bought another hard drive (SATA) and i installed it in my computer, thinking everything would work fine and I could just use it for storage...But, adding that drive takes too much power and my graphics card will not run right.I have a FAT32 partition on that drive with stuff on it already.I want to copy my current C drive onto my E drive (SATA), turn off my computer, take out my old C drive, and be able to boot up Windows with my SATA drive as my C drive. How do I do this? just copy and paste??I dont need to worry about the boot loader because I am using GRUB and i'll edit it accordingly.. Have a backup program..?? Windows has one built in, But i don't know how well it works .... Look through the start menu.. You'll find it.. Accessories/System toolsBut, adding that drive takes too much power and my graphics card will not run right.Sounds like maybe your power supply isn't in such good shape, Maybe you should concider buying a new one of those as well, Or else you'll be sorry later..I want to copy my current C drive onto my E drive (SATA), turn off my computer, take out my old C drive, and be able to boot up Windows with my SATA drive as my C drive.Thats easy, After you do the backup and shut down - set the new SATA drive to Master , Then stick it back in.. AlanHo
I am no expert - but my guess is that simply copying the drive files with explorer will not transfer the important system files.Don't you need an imaging programme like Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost?
