A restart, a hard boot, and two system restores later, the problem still persists. I know that Windows saves system files from before every update, so how can I access those and restore my computer to before the update? Thanks for your help. cozofdeath Posted July 1, 2006 Report Share Posted July 1, 2006 Why not just reinstall it? You could run sfc.exe to check for any incorrect system files and they will get replaced. To do it your self you will probably have to mess with Windows File Protection and believe me its not very fun. I know most update files are kept in your C:\WINDOWS folder. They will be hidden and begin and end with a $ sign and are compressed, hence the blue font of the filename.
