P;3
I suspect the answer is "no" but thought I might ask over here if any member has used or knows of anyone (apart from me) who uses talkgas for their mail provider? I admit their server does not provide a section for junk mail as do most other servers; but, has anyone used it? no problem if no one CAN chip in, but just asking

I admit their server does not provide a section for junk mail as do most other servers; but, has anyone used it? no problem if no one CAN chip in, but just asking Hi, I’ve used talkgas for years now, ever since I signed up for British Gas’s multi package, must be about 8 years now. I was only with them for a few months before I move to another gas/electric supplier but my Talkgas email keeps working.I found your comments because I was trying to find a web site or anything that relates to Talkgas as I can’t get my email to work today. It keeps coming back that Talkgas.net can’t be found and I don’t have any way to contact them, do you? I know it’s probably just that they’re doing something and have had to disconnect from the system. I’ve found it very daunting thinking that they may have decided to discontinue the ISP service, (especially as there only seems to be me and you who use it). I would have thought they’d get in touch if that was the case, hope so.How long have you been with talkgas.net?

Are you not able to connect to them either? I don’t know what oe is my ISP is Tiscali. Talkgas was down for the day a few weeks ago but other than that I haven’t had any problems with them.About a year ago someone that I’m in regular contact with was not getting my emails, it turned out that there ISP had put a block on all mail from talkgas because of the vast amount of spam it was letting through. They’ve sorted that now though. How did you get to be with talkgas?
P;3
GLAD I have found someone else who has talkgas in their profile ( I am not alone!!! I staRted off with them , then "migrated" elsewhere; but still have the address to use; the stupidity with talkgas is that their mail server does NOT have the spam option for us to tell it what is and is not spam; THEY decide for us; I have previously had a huge battle with them to "unspam" some perfectly legit e mail addresses; I gather that the server IS down and has been for some time; however, the OE details may have changed as my OE cannot even connect to it now and neither can mailwasher;also, a test mail I sent to the talkgas server was sent back as "unroutable" so me thinks that some thing HAS changed; HOWEVER; I think one needs access TO the server to find out WHAT!!I DO WISH they would make their server like others in that you can check ON server and unspam legit mails and tell it what ARE spam; with talkas you cannot do that

P;3
"The host 'pop.talkgas.net' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. I PRESUME that a port needs changing ,, but WHAT?meanwhile the web page is missing ; I hope it has not succumbed to a nasty ;) when YOU try to receive from the server in your oE what error message do YOU get? I wouldn’t start changing anything, just wait till tomorrow and see if it’s back on. You’ve let them know that it’s down so they’re probably working on it, I hope. P;3
just a point; someone who also uses talkgas says that they have had to change some settings as their mail would not work either and they ARE with talkgas; one of my "concerns" is that my mail from a good address was sent to the talkgas server and got sent BACK as unroutable; so SOMETHING MAJOR is going on over there as i have NEVER had a test mail from my other addresses sent to it returned to meas to server issues; if you open your tiscali mail on the server, can you see an inbox and a junk mail box?you will notice that on the talkgas server the junk mail box is not accessible to us minions to check to see if legit mail is in it, nor for us to tell it that mail in the inbox may BE spam; THAT is one reason why I dislike the talkgas server; I am now with BT and can check the server and tell it to unspam stuff if necessary; ( OR to spam it !!)( sorry; does that make sense ?) P;3
interestingly I have not yet received BACK a mail i sent to another talkgas cutomer today ( and I have checked my btinternet server itself to ensure that the mail is not stuck in the spam box); so something must have got through; I still have the home page not available though :( what I will try tomorrow is to open the mail page as I have a direct link to it on another pc; if I do ever get my mail working or the homepage opening I"ll let you know; however, I am glad I am not alone in this at last!!!P3
P;3
an update; the mail I sent to a talkgas holder has been returned to me as basically non-existant;although I do know it does exist; and I have had the home page off line all day and is still off line; I have just spoken with the help desk maybe tomorrow evening it MAY be back on line........................................ I did also ask if they had had a bug or whatever on the page which could have caused it to crash; apparently lots of customrers have phoned in completely unable to access anything; they HOPE to be back SOMETIME this week :(

Peggy Sue
Hi P;3 I for one are very glad that I found your original question, I’d have been pulling my hair out by now, not knowing what was going on as I have no contact numbers for Talkgas.net. Thanks a lot for the contact number that will be put somewhere safe.Did the techs at talkgas give any indication of what the problem is?I usually get at least 10 emails a day to my talkgas account and nothing is going or coming in. XPonential
Hello from yet another lost talkgas soul!! So glad you started this off as it was a bit lonely for a while. I think things are looking hopeful as now the web server is back there is at least a contact address which has something on the end....as follows: "Dear Customer This is an automated reply to your e-mail query. Your message has been received and logged on our system. We will respond to your query as soon as possible, or contact you if we need any further information. Kind Regards TalkGas Support -----Original Message----- From: Received: 19/07/2006 21:44 To: "" <[email protected]> Subject: webmail service Hi As I’m sure you realise…there are many people who use your excellent e-mail service. I for one have relied upon it for years and have archived messages I need to retrieve and loads of businesses and contacts who have currently no other way to contact me. I hope I don’t have to swap everything over to another account!!! I do hope you intend to get it back online soon. Will you give notice if the service is to be ended? Thanks in anticipation"Fingers crossed that all our incoming mails have been safely queued "somewhere"!!?
Bluejay
I am fascinated by the fact that the service status quite clearly says that e-mails are working ok going as far as to say that the service is working correctly and there are no problems! :D Thankfully small things amuse my tired mind! When I started with Talkgas I was only allowed to do so if I signed up to at least two of there services. I haven’t been with them for quite a few years now and I’m wandering if they’ve finally realised and kicked us off. As Bluejay says It’s very strange that they say the service is working correctly.
