Seppe
Hi,I recently had to perform a format c: on my computer because i had some major malfunctions with the registry in windows and everything i tried failed. So , i went with the fast solution which i could do by myself.Installed windows , first thing i did was start patching SP1 and then over to SP 2 but when i got to SP 2 after all the updates the computer just crashed and gave me this error : KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERRORI know i should perform chkdsk to solve that but it doesnt solve that.. CHKDSK just gets stuck at the 4th step. Now i figured maybe i should just patch through windows update because maybe i forgot to patch something or w/e. But now the site even gives me an error saying it won't patch because it found an error and tells me i should remove my cookies and all temps, which i did but AGAIN didn't work.I seriously need some help because my pc is so instable. I installed the latest DX, VGA drivers everything...Thanks in advance,Seppe
jimv7
Install xp, then update to sp2 without installing any updates, the updates could be causing the errors being newer than sp2.Alternatively, download autostreamer from http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=223562 and use it to combine win xp and sp2, then do a full install from the newly created xp sp2 cd.Sorry wrong address, try http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-...ostreamer.shtml for the autostreamer download. -pops-
Slipstreaming Windows XP with SP2 is given on this forum. See here.Errors and difficulties in installing SP2 are almost always due to errors in the XP installation that is being loaded into.

Seppe
Thanks for the help guys. Windows is installed now but i have one extra question.I'm still getting the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR when i put the system under some stress to check if its stable. Copying huge folders + surfing and other things. I know this has to do with some corrupt on my hard disk? I also know that i should perform a chkdsk c: /r but when i try this in windows i get the error that it can't acces the drive because something else is accessing it. Is this normal? Thanks ,Seppe
