-pops-
There is malware that causes program shutdowns but I'm not aware of it doing so in the way you describe. What anti-malware (antivirus, antispyware etc.) do you have installed/use? cozofdeath
Sounds to me like its only one program doing this, which would explain why the format/reinstall didn't solve the problem. Is it only one problem causing the problem?? If so what program is it?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
What anti-malware (antivirus, antispyware etc.) do you have installed/use?Furthermore, do you have a firewall installed? Could it be ZoneAlarm? If so, did you recently upgrade to version 6.5? (I've had a similar problem on one of my home computers, where ZA started shutting programs down after they've been running some 48-72 hours). If this is the case, please do not rush to uninstall it, but wait until I give you instructions to do a clean uninstall.
Hornblower
Hi,I get my firewall, antiwirus and antispyware from F-secure. It is included in the price for the internet-supplier. I use the biggest internet-supplier in Sweden, Telia. The Security program hasn´t reported any virus or spyware.I have been having problems with several programs. Sometimes even the control panel crashed. After re reinstallation I have only been trying with the PC Game dangerous waters since I know about exactly when it will stop (Although not at the same place and command every time).I´ve been going through my drivers since I thought they could be to old. The driver for the processor (AMD Athlon tm) is from the end of 2002, I cant find any more up to date on there web-side though. Same goes for the audio-card. Could the problem have something to do with the drivers?
Hornblower
Been thinking about SP2...Would installing SP2 increase my chanses of detecting malware?
-pops-
I find it rather difficult to express my amazement that you are running a computer that has not been updated to SP2.There really is no excuse for not having SP2 and the subsequent updates installed on your machine. :( :( :( :(
Hornblower
Ok, threw myself on windows update and have now upgraded to SP2. Have been a bit supsicious about SP2 because on some forums I have seen people having problems with windows after installing SP2.SP 2 seems to have installed alright. However the program problem still remains, the closedown has happened to several programs i tested after installing SP2 :(
Hornblower
Hi,I have now been getting error logs in the event viewer after program crash. Don´t know if it has anything to do with installing SP2? Anyway I have pasted an error message below. I have tried to translate Swedish into english within brackets. Without knowing much, to me it seems as it really is a problem with the program or something closely related to the program. Would be very grateful if anyone could explain the meaning of application error.Händelsetyp (event type):Fel (error)Händelsens källa (source of event): Application ErrorHändelsekategori (event category): Ingen (none)Händelse-ID (event ID): 1000Datum: 2006-07-19Tid: 14:17:33Användare (user): Saknas (missing)Dator (computer): ANNATHOMASBeskrivning (description):Felaktigt program (wrong program) dangerouswaters.exe, version 0.1.0.3, (wrong module) felaktig modul wpnloadout.dll, version 0.1.0.0, felaktig adress (wrong adress) 0x00009110.Data:0000: 41 70 70 6c 69 63 61 74 Applicat0008: 69 6f 6e 20 46 61 69 6c ion Fail0010: 75 72 65 20 20 64 61 6e ure dan0018: 67 65 72 6f 75 73 77 61 gerouswa0020: 74 65 72 73 2e 65 78 65 ters.exe0028: 20 30 2e 31 2e 30 2e 33 0.1.0.30030: 20 69 6e 20 77 70 6e 6c in wpnl0038: 6f 61 64 6f 75 74 2e 64 oadout.d0040: 6c 6c 20 30 2e 31 2e 30 ll 0.1.00048: 2e 30 20 61 74 20 6f 66 .0 at of0050: 66 73 65 74 20 30 30 30 fset 0000058: 30 39 31 31 30 0d 0a 09110..
