Can`t access mail page

Hi Guys,

I have recently got a strange problem and I can`t think why its happened or how to sort it, its not a neccessity at the mo, but maybe when my email box gets loaded.

I have a Telefonica.net account,I can access the main page, when I put in my username and password (which is correct I get no error on them) to access my mail, I get an error saying the page is unavailable.

This happens with IE or Opera.

I have the account set up in both and receive Telefonica mail in both, but the mails are staying in the telefonica site, I cant access them to delete them.

Telefonica techies said everything is working fine and they could access my account so it must be my PC ?

I thought yeah right, but I tried to access it on my daughters PC and it went straight on no problem at all.

What could be the cause of mine not being able to access the mail page ?

Both PC`s are on my router, both use XP firewall with same settings and both have XP pro with all the hotfixes, both have same version of IE.

TIA John

Are you still having this problem?

Sorry Nel missed your post :paperbag1:

Yes still having problem, I cant see what has made the change to my PC so that I cant access the page, no error on username or password, just error on finding page.

Its accessable on my daughters, almost identical setups, same router and firewalls etc.

I just tried pinging the website and it timed out.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping Telefonica.net

Pinging Telefonica.net [213.4.130.95] with 32 bytes of data:

Yeah, but the home page doesn't require an ssl connection, only the mail page. It was just an idea though I didn't get much time to look up anything. But if the router and firewalls are the same on both computers and its only the secure connection to your email that fails it could be ssl or a setting in a browser, but if its two browers its unlikely a setting. Does it happen for any other secure login sites?

Its the only one I have noticed to cause a problem.

It always used to work OK, but then I dont use it much cos I get my mail through OE or Opera.

I only noticed it cos people sending mails from Hotmail kept getting bounced so I thought I would checkout the site and see what was going on.

I sent some to Telefonica account from my Hotmail and they got bounced also.

Humm, that is weird. The only other thing I can think of would be is some sort of setting in your firewall. I'm outta ideas. Anyone else??

Thanks for the help, but its no hassle I can access and clear the mails on my daughters PC.

You know what PC`s are like, one day it will just start working again ;)

:D True

I had a feeling it may have been one of the recent hotfixes causing it, as when I tried it on hers (without the larest) it worked ok, but then I shut off and it loaded the fixes. I rebooted and it still worked, so not them :(
