shuhornoplenty Posted July 26, 2006 Report Share Posted July 26, 2006 hello,i am trying to dl a WINRAR program off a site, but it didnt work, so i decided to dl it off a another website, now ive done this thing before, but when i came home(it took like an hr. to dl) it says that it cannot be used and that the FILE IS CORRUPT. now i asked a forum and a guy said that if the transmition is interupted then the FILE WILL BE CORRUPTED, now i dont know if someone put stand-by or w/e on the pc, but if i finish dl(its at 84%) will it still be able to work, even though its corrupted? -pops- Posted July 26, 2006 Report Share Posted July 26, 2006 You cannot normally "join" interrupted downloads and get them to work without using a download manager which must be started before you begin the download.If you are on a slow Internet connection (dial up) it may be best for you to get a friend with high speed connection to download to disk for you and then you can transfer to your machine. This will compensate for interrupted downloads and it claims to speed them up but I'm always doubtful about these claims.Be careful if you look for your own DL managers as some are notorious for inserting things that you would rather not have in your machine.
