mnichollsuk Posted July 30, 2006 Report Share Posted July 30, 2006 Hey Guys, I have one 80GB SATA HDD and decided i needed more space, so i bought a 150GB SATA as a second HDD. I plugged it in, and i get the following message on bootup:SMART FAILURE PREDICTED on HARDDRISK 4 MAXTOR 6Y160MO-WARNING: IMMEDIATLY BACKUP YOUR DATA AND REPLACE YOUR HARD DISK A FAILURE MAY BE IMMINENTPRESS F1 TO CONTINUEBut when Windows starts, the HDD works fine, i run CHKDSK and no errors are reported. What do i do? which do i believe?I have data on this HDD (as a test) and it seems to be working well, but after 1 day of my PC being on, i turned t off, checked the HDD's and my new "possibly faulty" HDD felt very warm indeedIs there anyway i can be fully sure if my HDD is good or not?Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Note: PowerMax v 4.21 will not detect ATA or SATA hard disks connected to embedded or add in RAID controllers, NVIDIA Force 4, VIA KT 600 and KT800 chipsets. If the hard disk is connected to an unsupported controller, it will have to be moved to an alternate system, or controller for diagnosis. Please check the PowerMax download page periodically for updates. Beginning March 1st 2005 all versions of PowerMax prior to v4.22 will no longer be supported. My PC already had 1 SATA HDD, so i simply purchase another (and a SATA HDD cale) and plugged it in to the one remaining slot on my m/board - it all looks exactly the same as my first HDD Im just concerned as i dont want to loose any data, and i am not sure whether this HDD is good or not Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
