(if you associate the .mp3 with mediaplayer9 in your register)But, when i link to "http://***.xml", the IE browser itself will open the xml file and show the content of the xml file instead of starting an application. But I have associated .xml with altrova xmlspy(an xml editor) in the register. When i open an local xml file, xmpspy will start up automaticly. Why in the internet it is different? How can I modify the register to stop the IE's showing the xml file itself, but start up xmlspy to edit the xml file? just like the .mp3 page starts the mediaplayer9. Thank you for your advice! I know with firefox you can use MIME type editor (an extension) to do whatever action you want with any file type if its not already in the download action list. You will have to edit a registry key.Firefox is much easier to fix this, as you simply go into download options, and change the default program for the xml extension.this should help you display XML within Internet Explorer, but to make it open into a defaulted program is different.
