Sleepy PC not waking up from LAN

Hi folks. Yes I know I'm probably thick but can someone tell me how I get a pc to wake up from standby via the local network?

Ive done the box ticking thing under /Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Network Adapters/..etc, but it stays firmly on standby when access is requested from another computer on the network. Have also tried a "ping" to the computers IP addr from the Run/CMD prompt and it stays fast asleep.

I'm sure I've just missed something very obvious.. or is this yet another bit of MS that doesn't work??

Btw, Andsome, the cat has been nowhere near it!!! lol

What motherboard do you have? I assume it supports Wake on LAN?

Sorry it's been a while. Have done some investigating around jumper links etc, to no avail.

The PC is an Advent 3618, motherboard is a MSi 6741 with integrated LAN. I downloaded the full manual but there are no hints there either, not even in BIOS settings. I can't seem to find any useful contact information for support, and am getting a teeny bit frustrated..

Does anyone have any suggestions?

On page 3-19 it mentions Wake On Lan settings. Looks like you need to go into your BIOS, into the Integrated Periphials section and check that it is set to enabled

Ok Nell, I missed that. Have enabled LAN PME in the BIOS (it was off). Shame it didn't make any difference tho' - i had high hopes for a minute!
